Protecting your pet from dangers in the Summer months includes looking carefully at many of the plants your pet has access to. You should also be extremely careful when doing chores around the house or garden. Many of the products used during summer projects are toxic to pets. Whether you are working with paints and solvents or gardening chemicals, be cautious. If you think there may be some potential that your pet has eaten either a poisonous plant or other toxic substance, contact your veterinarian or emergency pet facility immediately. You may also want to call the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) National Animal Poison Control Center (NAPCC). The ASPCA /NAPCC has a wide range of information specific to animal poisoning, not only from plants, but also pesticides, drugs, medications, metals, cleaning products and other poisonous substances.
